Hand-Carved Quilted Star Shelf Sitter

$38.00

This hand-carved quilt block shelf sitter draws inspiration from traditional folk art and classic quilt patterns passed down through generations. Carved entirely by hand from white pine, the piece stands approximately 6.75 inches tall and 3.75 inches wide and is finished on both sides with the same carefully carved quilt design, allowing it to be displayed openly on a shelf, mantel, or tabletop.

The quilt block features a bold, star-like pattern carved in relief, with crisp angles and layered geometry that give the piece depth and presence. Hand-painted in shades of deep navy, soft white, silvery gray, and light blue, the colors echo timeworn quilts and blue skies. Subtle shimmer catches the light and brings gentle movement to the carved shapes, while the warm wood grain remains visible beneath the paint, grounding the piece in its natural material.

The turned pedestal base adds a traditional folk-art feel and lifts the quilt block slightly, giving it the presence of a small, handmade object meant to be noticed but not overworked. As with all my work, carving marks, wood grain, and small variations are intentionally left visible—signs of a piece shaped by hand rather than machine.

This shelf sitter is entirely hand carved and hand painted, with no power carving tools used. It is one of a kind and signed, made to be enjoyed as a quiet, enduring piece of folk art.
